Best Actress in a Supporting Role….goes to….Ms. Lupita Nyong’o!
Last night was one of THE best Oscars we at The Style Loft has watched and can’t stop talking about. From the Red Carpet action to Ellen Degeneres handing out slices of pizza to hungry celebrities, only brought viewers like us right into all the action. As we tweeted all night long, past 12am of the notable events, we couldn’t stop screaming for joy as our nominees won. We all made bets against each other and as the winner of a $50 Starbucks card, I am proud to start this article off by congratulating all the winners and nominees from last night.
We couldn’t help but notice the sad-but-played-it-cool Leonard DiCaprio and the film “The Wolf of Wall Street” received no awards but at least we’re happy that the movie was nominated. It seems we were not the only ones feeling sad for Leo, as the trending topic on twitter was #PoorLeo. Let’s give this violin a few more chords by noting this is Leo’s fourth attempt at winning a Oscar. Of course you know people are taking as many shots at Leo especially since Matthew McConaughey was in the same movie with him. McConaughey won Best Actor in a Leading Role for the movie “Dallas Buyers Club“. At the end of the day both actors did a fantastic job in both movies, and we are predicting Leo will finally get a Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role next! Fingers crossed.
Let’s refocus on Ms. Lupita Nyong’o’s baby blue Prada dress, which she added her native Kenyan heritage to help inspire this dazzling dress to the Ball. Having her brother escort her to the Oscars and we couldn’t take our eyes off her the whole night. The grand finale of her night was one part of her speech that melted our hearts and opened our minds:
“When I look down at this golden statue, may it remind me and every child, no matter where you’re from, your dreams are valid”. ~ Lupita Nyong’o
She made us realize that its our dreams that keeps us focus and running towards the next challenge. No matter what your status is in the world, your life has a purpose. Embracing who you are is important and understanding the hurdles and obstacles are trophies meant to be won along the way. Its the OSCARS we are shooting for and the Oscars symbolize faith, hope and prayer.
